MAFS’ Alyssa Barmonde Reveals Trolls Are Sending Her Hate Messages Meant For 2026 Bride Alissa Fay

MAFS' Alyssa Barmonde and Alissa Fay

Alyssa Barmonde became one of the most divisive participants on Married At First Sight (MAFS) in 2023 after her relationship with Duncan James crumbled, she (understandably) became emotional and was then portrayed as a “villain”. Three years later, she’s begun receiving hate messages on social media for a completely different reason.

The Utah-born reality star — who definitely has a child — has revealed that she’s been sent countless Instagram DMs over the past couple of months from fans mistaking her for 2026 bride Alissa Fay

“We are not the same, we spell our names differently, but I keep getting messages for her!” she told PEDESTRIAN.TV’s podcast Villain Edit

“In the beginning, people were like, ‘Oh my god, I love you and David [Momoh]’, and I was like, ‘Who? Is this a boyfriend I don’t know about?’. And then, obviously, when her edit must have flipped and she’s not a favourite anymore, now I’m getting trolled for her.”

Alyssa’s brutal warning to MAFS trolls

Despite the confusion, Alyssa admitted she prefers that people send hate messages to her instead of the intended MAFS bride because she has more experience dealing with trolls.

“Of course I’m replying to them and I’m posting on my Stories. If you troll me, I will dob you in and I will send it straight to your employer,” she said. “If I can Google your name and find out everything about you, you better believe that your actions have consequences.”

The former TV bride — who has become a strong advocate for mental health since appearing on MAFS — went on to urge viewers to avoid sending negative messages directly to the show’s participants.

“A lot of the times people will flip around. So I got one for Alissa that was like, ‘Oh my god, you never let him speak’,” she recalled.

“I said, ‘Hi, it’s not me, first of all. I’m just curious, why do you send messages like this? I’m obviously not the intended person, but why?’. And I think he took a step back and was like, ‘I get too into the show, I’m really sorry’. But send it to someone else.”

Alyssa’s connection to 2026 MAFS participants

Alissa isn’t the only cast member that Alyssa shares a connection with, as her Final Vows took place in the exact same location where Bec Zacharia had her heart broken in Tuesday night’s episode.

“They took me two and a half hours all the way to the Blue Mountains, and my naive ass was thinking that we were both gonna say yes and prance into the forest together,” she recalled about her experience.

“So I went and bought all this breakfast stuff, but then obviously I was dumped! Production came over and they were like, ‘Thank you so much, Alyssa, you’re so brave. You’re gonna be Australia’s sweetheart, and we’re so proud of you’.”

She also revealed on the podcast that she received a message from Luke Fourniotis before he filmed the reality show, and she encouraged him not to do it.

“He was like, ‘Oh hey, I’ve been asked to go on MAFS this year, should I do it?’ and I was like, ‘No!’. And then sure enough,” she detailed.

“Stop going on MAFS, stop applying! Like, what are you guys doing? Literally do anything else except go on MAFS.”
