Madonna thanks God for 'the Earth, this grass and the Moon' in bizarre fireworks video

Pop superstar Madonna sent social media into a state of confusion on Tuesday night after she posted a bizarre video to her Instagram account.

The footage begins with the 63-year old stating: "Thank you God for the Earth, for this grass, for the Moon and the privilege of being out here in the countryside, because that is freedom."

Accompanying audio can be heard from her 2005 hit 'Get Together' - taken from her tenth studio album 'Confessions on a Dance Floor'.

The singer can then be seen dancing in sunglasses in the dark before toasting marshmallows with her children and setting off fireworks.

"America is land of the not-free, and the home of the way over too priced," Madge then closes the 55 second clip with in an accent.

Coinciding with Independence Day, the Like A Virgin Star appeared to be responding to the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn the landmark Roe vs Wade ruling on the right to abortion after almost 50 years.

Within 12 hours the video, which she captioned 'Give me liberty or give me Death!' had been viewed over 180,000 times receiving over a thousand comments.

Users appeared to be split on Madonna's message, however, with supportive user writing: "Cheers to Freedom M! Estere and Stella so sweet with the toasted Marshmallows too."

A second replied: "Hey Gorgeous Queen M! Happy 4th of July to you, your family and friends!"

A third fan said: "Yes there is nothing better than independence aside from love."

In response to the use of fireworks, however, an unhappy follower added: "The privilege of being out in the countryside! Tell that to the animals you've just traumatised."

Another said: "Get a life! You would have Jack s*** if not for this country. Stop your bitchin."

A third wrote: "Thank you for polluting our precious earth from all 50 states oh new years worldwide pollution yee haaaaa."

A fourth disgruntled user wrote: "If it's the land of the night free you've certainly made a lot of money in it so maybe leave and don't come back? Why are you culturally appropriating an accent?"
