Madeleine McCann investigators ‘find new evidence’ in suspect Christian B’s van linking him to her disappearance

Investigators leading the search for Madeleine McCann claim to have made a major breakthrough as her parents mark the 15-year anniversary of her disappearance.

On Monday night a member of the investigative team claimed they have found new evidence in a camper van that belongs to the prime suspect, Christian B.

Speaking on Tuesday, Hans-Christian Wolters, who is heading up the case against the German criminal, said: “We have found new facts and new evidence.

“It’s not forensic evidence but evidence and because of our evidence, we are sure he is the murderer of Madeleine McCann.

“We are sure he killed Madeleine.”

Mr. Wolters was questioned on Portuguese TV on the 15th anniversary of her abduction amid speculation that fibres from Madeleine’s pyjamas were found.

The three-year-old was reportedly wearing pink Eeyore pyjamas when she was taken in Praia da Luz and this would mark the first sign of them since that night.

Mr. Wolters was questioned about the fibres during the show and was asked: “Is it true you did find something belonging to Madeleine in the caravan of Christian B?”

He said: “I can’t comment on details of the investigation.”

The host, Sandra Felgueiras then added: “But you can’t deny it, can you?”

Mr Wolters responded: “I don’t want to deny it,” but then added that he couldn't speak on it because “the suspect has not yet been informed.”

Christian B continues to deny any involvement in Madeleine’s disappearance, and just this week claimed he was miles from where the toddler was taken.

The 45-year-old also claimed that at the time he was having sex in his van with a woman who he says is willing to back his alibi.

Despite this, there is hope among the forensics team that any traces linking the German suspect to Madeleine would help police to finally charge him with kidnapping and murder.
