Made In Chelsea is to become first UK show in TV history to broadcast a three-way kiss between a male throuple.
E4 stars Joel Mignott, 27, Robbie Mullett, 23, and newcomer Geronimo Mörtl, 22, have decided to showcase their three-way relationship on the upcoming instalment, which was filmed in Corsica and is set to air this Sunday (August 13).
In an attempt to portray the dynamic of their relationship sensitively, Channel 4 hired a “queer expert” to oversee the storyline and hope the move will curb any potential Ofcom complaints.
Speaking about the TV first, Mignott said that the broadcaster have done their utmost to capture their relationship authentically.
The model said: “I am not apprehensive about Ofcom complaints because Channel 4 have done everything they can to help us through this process. We even had a queer specialist who was consulting us on any emotional struggles we were going through while filming the series and afterwards.
“The channel has endeavoured to really be on our side in this storyline. If other people have negative complaints, then I don’t care because Channel 4 have worked with us tirelessly to portray this story in the best possible light.
“Being a gay person, you are more prepared for trolling because you are in the minority. I don’t read the comments... my mum does. But Robbie and I are in this together, so we have got each other’s backs,” he told MailOnline.
The new E4 series sees the cast swap Chelsea for Corsica in France for six weeks.
In scenes yet to air, viewers see Mignott and Mullet establish a romantic connection with single model Geronimo as the cameras roll during their time on the isle.
It’s not the first TV milestone Made In Chelsea has made. Previously it was the first reality series to screen a same-sex wedding after Ollie Locke and his now-husband Gareth got married in 2020.
The couple are now expecting twins together, via surrogacy.
