On Tuesday, EA Sports revealed its second set of Madden NFL 23 ratings—running down the league’s edge rushers and linebackers. And the Carolina Panthers, perhaps somewhat surprisingly, didn’t have a single player (namely one that you’ll soon hear about) in the top 25 of the group.
They did, however, have two of the three fastest defensive ends. Those credits go to 2022 sixth-round pick Amaré Barno and Pro Bowler Brian Burns—whose speed rated out at 92 (first) and 89 (third), respectively.
Despite having yet to play a professional down, Barno already has the respect of these video game developers. That’s probably thanks to his 4.37-second 40-yard dash—the fastest amongst all defensive linemen and linebackers at this year’s combine.
Then Burns, of course, is Burns. We’ve seen his explosiveness for three seasons now, a body of work that’s resulted in 25.5 career sacks.
Here’s how each of the players rolled out on Tuesday rated on the overall scale:
- LE Brian Burns: 88
