Madame Tussauds has hit back at critics of their brand new Zendeya waxwork with fans dismissing it as a Kylie Jenner look-a-like.
The Euphoria star’s statue was only unveiled at the Baker Street attraction on Friday but has already been blasted by fans on social media.
The figure of the Hollywood actress – known for her roles in Spider-Man and Dune – wears a shocking pink power suit and chic jewellery as it takes up permanent residency in the Award Party zone at the London tourist attraction.
In a post shared to Instagram, Madame Tussauds said: “From cinema screens to tv screens, to buying a home in London, Zendaya is EVERYWHERE rn... and from Friday her figure will be at Madame Tussauds London too.”
But fans were quick to ask for a “redo” of the waxwork of the Dune star.
One replied: “That’s not Zendaya... This looks more like a mix of Kylie Jenner and Nicki Minaj.”
Another said: “Oh god… redo itð¤¦ð»âï¸ that is NOT Zendaya and out of ALL outfits.
“Was this a repurposed Kylie Jenner wax figure? It looks amazing, but it honestly looks more like Kylie than Zendaya”, one asked.
Madame Tussauds hit back at critics saying: “Our talented artists created our new Zendaya figure using measurements and references taken during her 2015 sitting.
“We understand that when fans are incredibly passionate they might feel differently, until they have had the chance to see it up close.”
It was sculpted using measurements and references taken during her 2015 sitting with the world-famous attraction’s artists and will feature in Madame Tussauds’ Awards Party zone.
Zendaya, the new Mary Jane is currently dating her British Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland.
The second series of Euphoria has sparked controversy for its use of nudity and drug use in the teen drama.
But it’s not new in 2019, when word got out that Euphoria broadcasts 30 penises in a single episode in season one, the show was granted immediate infamy among those who hadn’t even seen it.
