Macklemore clarifies “Free Palestine” chant amid calls to axe him from Sheeran tour

Rapper Macklemore clarified that his calls to "Free Palestine" during Ed Sheeran's US tour were not a criticism of Jewish people, emphasising his message was focused on peace and equality.
During his opening set at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium, Macklemore performed his 2024 protest song "Hind's Hall" alongside backdrop imagery from Gaza and pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
The Israeli-American Council launched a petition demanding Ed Sheeran remove Macklemore from the remainder of his US tour dates for promoting a "one-sided political agenda".
The council requested clarification from tour leadership regarding whether Macklemore's political imagery, speeches, and song choices had been pre-approved.
Macklemore, a prominent advocate for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, remains listed on Ed Sheeran's official website as the supporting act for upcoming US stadium shows.
