The seaport proposed to be constructed at Machilipatnam in Krishna district got CRZ (coastal regulation zone) clearance from the Chennai-based National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management recently, which set the stage for the A.P. Maritime Board to process it to obtain the nod of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and the A.P. Pollution Control Board (APPCB).
An APPCB committee is expected to soon clear the decks for this greenfield port, which is planned to be developed in about 1,145 acres.
