Machete, large knife and hammer 'hidden in bushes' found in parks

A machete was among the items recovered by police across parks in Merseyside.

Police carried out searches across St Helens, scouring Fosters Park and Nanny Goat park, finding an array of dangerous items and seizing them. Some of the items seized included a machete, a hammer and a large saw.

In a statement on March 29, Merseyside Police said: "Team One from Local Policing have been out this morning in Fosters Park searching for knives/weapons that may be hidden. The team found items including a knife, a hammer, a saw and a screwdriver hidden in the bushes at various points in the park.

"We'll be attending other locations throughout the day also. If you have any information concerning the above please report via 101, online on our website or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800555111."

Later in the day, police confirmed that further searches had revealed a machete 'stashed in the bushes' at Nanny Goat Park, in the Parr area. Searches of other parks would continue for the rest of the day,

Police confirmed in a second statement: "Following on from searching Fosters Park, Team One have also been to Nanny Goat Park and the back of Chalon Way.
