Macaulay Langstaff has written himself into Notts County folklore with his goal against Altrincham taking him out on his own as the club's leading goal-scorer in a singular league campaign.
The record had stood for 92 years, but the Magpies number nine was able to overtake Tom Keetley's total of 39 for a league season, also going level with the National League record of 40 league goals in one season set by Dover's Ricky Miller.
His strike at the J. Davidson Stadium did come with its controversy however, with John Bostock's quick free-kick after a foul on Ruben Rodrigues surprising everyone in red and white, with Langstaff finishing beyond Ollie Byrne to give Luke Williams' side the lead.

"I wasn't expecting it, we got the free-kick and I was on my back foot a little bit," explained Langstaff on how the situation unravelled out on the pitch.
"I was caught sleeping and John shouted to me Macca, Macca and I thought he meant when the whistle goes I will try and get you in with a little reverse around the wall.
"I didn't expect him to give me it and when he did I didn't hear a whistle when normally if you take a quick free-kick you hear a whistle - the ball came to me and I turned and I have put it in and still think I have not scored because I am looking at the referee and the linesman, but no one said anything."
The 26-year-old came within inches of breaking two records in one night in the closing stages of the contest, finding space on the edge of the area before curling an effort goal-bound that grazed the crossbar right in front of the travelling Notts fans.
"When it left my foot, I thought it was going over but it dipped right at the end and hit the crossbar," said Langstaff.
"The keeper may have had it covered, but I was trying my hardest to obviously break the National League record - I was disappointed not to score that one but happy to equal it."
Of all of his 40 strikes this season, many have been regarded as his best. His late winner against Maidenhead, his strike against Torquay, the touch and finish against Chesterfield, the list is endless.
But when asked about his favourite goal this season, Langstaff pointed out his latest strike as the best he has scored for Notts this season.
"Yeah, definitely for what it means - Richard (Brindley) said to me there is that the easiest goal you have scored this season, and with the number of tap-ins I have scored, I don't think it's the easiest one I have scored this season.
"I still had to finish it and the keeper was still there, but that is the one that means the most to me."
