Macaulay Langstaff has spoken about a conversation he had with Adam Chicksen following Notts County's 3-1 victory over Altrincham at the weekend.
With the Magpies number nine having already scored two in the first half, following up Cedwyn Scott's initial effort before tucking home Toby Adebayo-Rowling's cut back, a second hat-trick of the season looked extremely likely.
And that combination looked to have linked up once again for Notts' third goal, with Langstaff steering the ball beyond Oliver Byrne, only for the left-back to make sure of the three points by stabbing the ball on the line.

Speaking ahead of their top-of-the-table clash with Wrexham on Tuesday night, Langstaff told how he thought his effort had hit the post and gone in for his 15th goal of the season only for Chicksen to score.
"The conversation was more on the pitch really," explained Langstaff.
"I said to him straight away did you touch that because originally I thought it hit the post and went in, so I turned around and celebrated but then I asked him if and he said he did.
"Obviously I trust him, and I have watched it back and it is clearly his goal so we had a bit of banter in the changing rooms afterwards and he was saying you can have it if you want!
"But no, I am just glad that we got the third goal and the win in the end."
While most strikers may have been annoyed with Chicksen's involvement in prodding Langstaff's initial effort over the line, he said the Zimbabwean did the right thing in following-up his effort to make sure it went in.
"I would be doing exactly the same and would be more annoyed at Chicks if he didn't do that," Langstaff added.
"I think there is a camera angle behind the goal that is in line of my head, and I think it might have been going wide or the defender could have cleared it anyway, so yeah 100% he has to do that."
The day after Langstaff took his tally to 14 in the National League this season Erling Haaland was in action in the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.
And the 22-year-old was at his free-scoring best, netting a hat-trick in a 6-3 win over Manchester United and finally overtaking the Notts number nine as the top scorer in English football's top five divisions.
With comparisons being made between the pair in recent weeks, Langstaff has said how he loves watching the City number nine play, and explained he watches him intensely during matches to try and emulate his performances for Notts.
"It's just a bit of fun, we are levels apart at the moment because I know there have been comparisons and stuff," Langstaff added.
"But in terms of the way we play, there is not that many similarities, obviously the physical stature is a lot different to me.
"I love seeing him score goals, he is one of my favourite strikers to watch and I almost have a player cam on him when I watch him because his movement is exceptional, and I want to try and replicate that.
"It's just a bit of fun but when I see him scoring, I get texts coming through on my phone saying Haaland is catching you, but it's just a bit of banter."
