Mac Jones sees greater sense of urgency for Patriots in Week 3

Coming off back-to-back losses, the New England Patriots recognize the need for a victory when they face off against the New York Jets on Sunday.

Quarterback Mac Jones indicated the team has been going about things with a “greater urgency” following the loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

“There’s a greater urgency, and that needs to happen every week. That’s the challenge,” said Jones, via the Boston Herald’s Andrew Callahan.

Jones has had a decent start to the season. He has tallied 547 passing yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions so far. He hung 231 yards, one touchdown and one interception on the Miami Dolphins in Week 2.

Meanwhile, the Patriots defense put together a solid showing against the Philadelphia Eagles in the opener, but they got burned by the speed of the Dolphins’ receivers in the following game.

Jones and the rest of the Patriots realize what’s at stake. A loss on Sunday would leave them sitting dead last in the AFC East division with an 0-3 record and hardly a prayer’s chance of making the playoffs.
