Mabel mourns 'big brother' Liam Payne

Liam Payne has died at the age of 31

Mabel is devastated she will no longer be able to call Liam Payne for "big brotherly advice".

The former One Direction singer passed away on Wednesday (16.10.24), aged 31, after he fell from his hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the 'Finders Keepers' hitmaker admitted her friend - who had seven-year-old son Bear with ex-girlfriend Cheryl Tweedy - will be "so missed".

Mabel wrote on her Instagram story: "FOR SO MANY YEARS I ALWAYS KNEW I COULD CALL YOU FOR SUPPORT AND BIG BROTHERLY ADVICE BUT NOW YOU'RE GONE...

"MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH LIAMS FAMILY AND FRIENDS DURING THIS TIME YOU'LL BE SO MISSED."

JLS singer Marvin Humes recalled meeting "little brother" Liam when the 'Strip That Down' singer was just 14 years old, two years before he was given a place in One Direction after his 2010 'X Factor' audition.

Sharing a photo of them together, Marvin wrote on Instagram: "I first met Liam in 2008 with the JLS boys whilst auditioning for X Factor..he was 14 years old..we instantly clicked and looked at him as a little brother..that year it worked out for us but not for him and then 2 years later he went back to audition and One Direction was born..the rest is history..

"Absolutely heartbroken by the tragic news..Liam you wanted to be a global superstar and you did it bro..just can’t believe that things have ended this way..it’s shocking..my thoughts and prayers are with all your family and friends brother..RIP (sic)"

Dermot O'Leary, who hosted 'The X Factor', shared a photo of himself and Liam on stage and admitted his passing was "the worst news".

He wrote on Instagram: “The worst news.

“I remember him as a 14 year old turning up to audition on The X Factor, and blowing us away singing Sinatra. He just loved to sing.

“He was always a joy, had time for everyone, polite, grateful, and was always humble.”
