UPDATE: The road has now reopened southbound. Northbound is still closed at J2.
The M73 has been closed in both directions due to a lorry fire.
The busy road has been closed by emergency services as of 7.40am on Thursday morning.
The closure is currently in place on the M73 northbound from junction 2 Baillieston interchange and southbound from junction 2a at Gartcosh.
Traffic is being held and is currently stationary while the blaze is brought under control by fire crews.
Scottish Fire and Rescue and Police Scotland are on the scene.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "M73 is currently closed in both directions following a report of a lorry fire. Police are at the scene and the road is closed northbound from junction 2 Baillieston interchange and southbound from junction 2a at Gartcosh."
