M62 shut after Lamborghini bursts into flames in serious crash

A major motorway has been closed for a number of hours after a supercar smashed into another vehicle before bursting into flames. Pictures and video shared widely on social media showed a purple Lamborghini on fire and a large emergency services response after the crash.

The crash happened close to junction 25 of the M62 heading towards Manchester, with police confirming two people have been taken to hospital after the horror smash. The road was closed soon after the crash at 5.11pm this afternoon (August 22) and remains closed while investigations are carried out.

West Yorkshire Police confirmed that the crash involved two vehicles - a Lamborghini Aventador and a Mazda CX-5 - and that apart from the two taken to hospital no other injuries were reported. Motorists are urged to avoid the scene while enquiries are ongoing.
