Two of Merseyside’s motorways will be closed with delays expected over the next week.
Sections of the M6 and M53 will be closed this week for essential roadworks and horticultural works. National Highways has told drivers to expect delays.
This week (May 2 - May 8) there are no scheduled motorway works on Monday, May 2, Saturday, May 7, and Sunday, May 8.

Here’s a list of all the motorway closures you can expect this week:
Monday, May 2
No closures.
Tuesday, May 3
The M53 southbound between junctions five (Hooton Interchange) and seven (Netherpool Road Interchange) will be closed from 8pm to 5am because of horticultural works.
Wednesday, May 4
The M53 northbound between junctions five (Hooton Interchange) and seven (Netherpool Road Interchange) will be closed from 8pm to 5am.
Thursday, May 5
The M6 southbound between junctions 23 (Haydock) and 26 (Orrell Interchange) will be closed from 9pm to 6am.
The M53 northbound between junctions five (Hooton Interchange) and seven (Netherpool Road Interchange) will be closed from 8pm to 5am.
Friday, May 6
The M6 southbound between junctions 23 (Haydock) and 26 (Orrell Interchange) will be closed from 9pm until 6am.
Saturday, May 7
No closures.
Sunday, May 8
No closures.
