Traffic was queued for miles after the M53 was closed following the concern of the safety of a woman.
Merseyside Police were called at around 5pm on Monday, November 7, following a report of concern for a woman on the bridge of the Upton Road, Wirral. Once officers arrived at the scene they immediately closed the bypass between Noctorum Road and Manor Drive as well as closing parts on the M53 between junctions two (Moreton Spur) and three (Woodchurch).
The closures caused heavy traffic in Upton, Noctorum and on the M53 southbound.

The woman came down from the bridge at 5.50pm and was detained by officers. All of the roads reopened a short time later.
