A person has been taken to hospital after a serious crash between two lorries on the M5 this afternoon.
Both carriageways of the motorway are seeing delays of 90 minutes following the serious crash on the M5 northbound between J22 (Burnham-on-Sea) and J21 (Weston-super-Mare). The southbound carriageway was originally closed, but has now reopened.
However, congestion continues on the southbound carriageway following the earlier closure. There are 13 miles of queues.

One lane has now reopened on the northbound carriageway, where there are five miles of queues on approach to the closure at J22. A diversion is in place via the A38.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 13.14hrs to a road traffic incident on the M5 northbound between Junctions 21 and 22.
"We sent a rapid response vehicle, an air ambulance, an operations officer and a double-crewed land ambulance. We conveyed one patient by land ambulance to Southmead Hospital”.
