Traffic is at a standstill on the M48 Severn Bridge this morning (Monday, August 8) after a crash involving a caravan. Queues are now building on the busy bridge, which links South Gloucestershire to South Wales, and motorists have been advised to divert to the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge instead.
National Highways tweeted shortly before 10.30am: "Traffic has been STOPPED on the #M48 #SevernBridge eastbound between J2 (#Chepstow) and J1 (#Aust) due to an overturned caravan.
"Emergency services are in attendance and congestion is building on approach. Please use the #M4 bridge if you can."

Traffic-monitoring site Inrix reports: "Two lanes closed and queueing traffic due to accident on M4 Westbound from J24 A449 (Coldra) to J25 B4596 (Caerleon). Travel time is 20 minutes. Lane one and two (of three) is closed."
