M32 crash between two cars closes motorway lane

The emergency services were called to the M32 today (June 9) after a crash between two cars closed a lane on the motorway. The fire service were called at 3.32pm following the collision, which caused traffic to slow on the northbound route between J1 and J2.

Police also attended, but everyone involved in the crash was able to remove themselves from their vehicles before the emergency services arrived. The lane remained closed and the incident was continuing to affect traffic more than two hours later, according to road monitoring site Inrix.

A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "Crews from Temple and Patchway were called at 15:32 to reports of an RTC involving two cars on the M32 outbound between junction 1 and the M4. All persons had safely rescued themselves from the vehicles prior to our arrival.

"Firefighters helped to make the scene safe by securing the vehicles on the carriageway. Police and highways were also on the scene."

Traffic camera images showed queues on the M32 and Google was also reporting delays for drivers along the outbound route.
