Two lanes of the M1 are closed between J29 and J29a and a spillage is being dealt with following a multi-vehicle crash. Drivers on the motorway are suffering from around 8 miles or so of traffic with no clear information on when the incident will be fixed.
Traffic has been worsening throughout the day (Friday, July 8) ever since the crash occurred at around 10.30am. The latest from National Highways the two lanes remain closed while authorities deal with the crash and spillage, with around 60 minutes of delays.
The most recent National Highways update, which came at around 12.30pm, said: "REMINDER - Lanes 3 and 4 remain closed on the M1 northbound between J29 and J29a near Chesterfield to treat a spillage following a multi-vehicle collision. There are currently delays of 60 minutes and approximately nine miles of congestion."

The junctions are near Chesterfield, and traffic is backing up into Nottinghamshire. National Highways traffic officers remain at the scene.
