M&S shoppers can save £230 on Christmas shopping, says Money Saving Expert

The cost of living crisis continues with many shoppers looking to save on their energy bills as well as how much petrol they fill up with.

In addition to these bills increasing, energy bills are also on the rise with millions across the UK trying to save as much money as possible.

Martin Lewis is one expert who has been helping people up and down the country issuing some much-needed advice from discounts on essentials to free food.

But as we get closer to winter, the closer to December we get and with this month comes Christmas.

Understandably many will be worried about buying Christmas presents and now Money Saving Expert, of which Martin Lewis is a co-founder, has said that shoppers can save £100s at M&S.

Reminding people in their weekly newsletter, the MSE experts said that the Marks and Spencer's beauty advent calendar can be a great purchase for those looking to get the most out of their money.

They suggest that rather than buying separate products to hand out, instead buy the advert calendar at a fraction of the cost and then split the products between who you want to gift them to.

The M&S beauty calendar costs £300 but you can grab it for just £40 as long as you spend £30 on clothing, home or beauty.

This means in total shoppers need to spend £70 however this still means that you are saving £230.

MSE says: "By our calculations, the M&S calendar's filled with products that would cost around £230 in total if bought separately from the cheapest retailers, including items from L'Occitane, Eyeko, Clinique, and Ren.

"And even if you won't faithfully open one door each day in the run up to Christmas, it’s often cheaper to buy beauty products in sets such as this (though also see our Beauty deals page for other ways to save cash)."

MSE add: "Here's a list of what the M&S beauty Advent calendar contains, and where we found the products cheapest if bought separately on Monday 31 October. Where items aren't sold in the same size packs, we've used the equivalent cost based on the cheapest we could find. M&S won’t confirm how many calendars it has in stock, but last year it sold out, so go quick if you want it."

Now the M&S beauty advent calendar is back in stock for 2022, and it contains contents worth £300 - but costs only £40 when you spend £30 on the M&S website.

In an episode of the Martin Lewis Money Show Live in 2021, the consumer champion told viewers: “This is a way that you can bag beauty products at a fraction of the normal cost and they often sell out early.”

He continued: "This is the big one. I reckon it’s worth around £230, costs you £40, but you can only get it if you spend £30 on non-food stuff in M&S. The fact you have to spend £30, you may as well do that anyway because even for £70 if you want the stuff in it, it’s worth it."

This year's M&S beauty advent calendar is worth even more than last year's, and contains £300 worth of products. Shoppers who spend £30 on the M&S website can get the advent calendar for £40 instead of £300, so it's well worth doing.
