Marks and Spencer has updated their Plant Kitchen range, adding five new items in time for Veganuary.
Those who plan to go meat-free can enjoy pizzas, sandwiches and a Victoria sponge cake from January. Product developers have spent a combined 18 months perfecting the new items.
With over 250 products existing in the range already, Plant Kitchen is one of the largest own brands on the high street.
Here are the new additions to the plant based range:
- Plant Kitchen No Chicken & Chorizo Sandwich
- Plant Kitchen Stonebaked Vegan Chicken and Pepper Pizza
- Plant Kitchen Victoria Sponge Cake
- Plant Kitchen Vegan ‘Nduja Paste
- Plant Kitchen Vegan Fried Chicken Seasoning
As well as introducing new products, M&S has also updated older favourites.
Plant Kitchen Green Thai Curry has been revamped to carry the Eat Well health seal of approval, for example. It is now made with sweet potatoes, edamame soybeans and Tenderstem broccoli in a coconut, ginger and lime curry, served with fragrant jasmine rice.
There's also the high protein vegan choco crunch, a rich chocolate oat and barley cereal which has also received Eat Well recognition.
Marie Ford, M&S Product Developer says: "We are so proud of our launches for Plant Kitchen this January! When we’re developing products we make sure customers never compromise on taste, and the product is just as good as or BETTER than it’s non vegan equivalent.
"That’s why the product I’m most excited about is out Plant Kitchen ‘Nduja paste, it took 20 weeks to develop, and it was a real challenge as we wanted it to get that perfect balance of flavours so it is as delicious as a non-vegan ‘Nduja pasta, and I’m happy to say we NAILED IT – It is perfect for adding spicy and smoky depth to any dish, I recommend stirring a spoonful into your favourite pasta and sauce for an EPIC dinner!"
Certain items haven't yet arrived in store, such as the no chicken & chorizo sandwich which will be available from January 9.
