M&S Energy customers are being switched to another company as the firm has announced that it's shutting down.
From April 1, anyone who has an account open with the supplier will be moved to Octopus Energy. M&S Energy announced they are not accepting new customers, but have assured existing ones they will continue to "receive honest pricing".
M&S Energy launched back in 2008 and currently has 60,000 customers. Money Saving Expert reports both firms have partnered since 2018, meaning that M&S already supply's energy under Octopus's licence agreements.
An online statement from M&S Energy read: "From April 1 2023, M&S Energy will become Octopus Energy. All our customers will continue to receive honest pricing, 100 per cent renewable energy and outstanding customer service, however we're not accepting new customers at this time."
If you're an M&S customer, you don't need to worry about being left without power, as the change won't disrupt supplies. You also won't have to do anything to move your account.
What will happen to my M&S account on April 1?
According to Money Saving Expert, M&S accounts will be moved automatically to Octopus on April 1.
As of now, the latter have said that M&S customers won't see their current rates changed once switched over. An Octopus Energy Spokesperson said: "Over the last five years M&S Energy, powered by Octopus Energy, grew to serve around 60,000 customers, all while maintaining five star customer service ratings on Trustpilot.
"As a result of M&S exiting their energy supply business to simplify their services, all M&S Energy customers are now switching over to Octopus, where they will enjoy the same rates and world-class customer service as before."
If you have an online account, you can still access it through the M&S Energy website, but this will change in time. However Octopus will contact you before the next steps are taken.
