Simply the words 'Sunday dinner' have the power to make mouths water. High street retailer M&S has made life even easier when it comes to conjuring up a weekend feast with its latest £10 offering, but shoppers have the same complaint about the deal - there's something missing.
When the well-known firm launched its limited edition Sunday roast dine-in deal, shoppers embraced the addition to the range 'combo' meal offers. However, while the deal, which runs until February 28, might include a main dish and three sides to serve two people, it leaves out a certain sector of foodies.
The mains include various ready-to-roast British meats including a rotisserie chicken, boneless basted beef joint, honey glaze boneless gammon and a sweet and sticky maple glaze boneless bacon loin joint. Among the side dishes are buttery mash, goose fat roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, beef dripping Yorkshire puddings, sage and onion stuffing and various vegetables. However, there is no vegetarian dish, according to Birmingham Live and a whole host of social media users.

After M&S shared a photograph showing the mouth-watering spread on its social media pages, shoppers were eager to share their thoughts with people pointing out there were no vegetarian or vegan options. One person wrote: "Once again a meal deal with no vegetarian option!" And a second shopper said: "Vegan option please."
Among other comments pointing out the lack of a meat-free option, one shopper wrote: "Vegetarian option?" M&S replied, confirming: "Sadly there is no vegetarian option." Another added, alongside crying face emojis: "I do think it really frustrating the limited vegetarian options with the dine in option." Someone else joined in: "Such a shame vegan roasting joint hasn't been included."
Another frustrated customer added: "Where are the vegetarian mains? Come on." When M&S responded to say there were vegetarian options available in its Pizza Night and Gastropub dine-in offers, the person replied: "I understand that but what if I want the roast? Surprising in the 2020s."
Answering another comment, M&S said it had passed the feedback on to its food team. Other M&S fans, on the other hand, were impressed by the Sunday lunch offering, which saves shoppers up to £10.70 compared to buying the dishes separately. One person said: "Will definitely be trying this, well done M&S." And another wrote: "Definitely getting this tomorrow." Someone else agreed: "Bread sauce, Yorkshire pudding and pigs in blankets all year."
Some people called for the deal to be made a permanent feature, as one commented: "This would be amazing as a permanent Sunday offer!" And a second said: "I'd keep this offer going permanently!"
