Lyon have reportedly rejected West Ham's improved bid for Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta, which is believed to be in the region of €50million, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
Newcastle United have been linked with Paqueta during the summer. However, the imminent arrival of Alexander Isak for a fee in the region of £58million means it is unlikely that the Magpies will launch an offer for the 24-year-old.
Sheth previously reported that the Hammers were thought to have proposed a deal worth €50million after their initial bid of £33million was rejected.
However, Lyon have rejected the Hammers' improved offer and West Ham are now deciding whether to go back with another bid or focus on other targets.
Previous reports claimed Lyon wanted in the region of £50million for Paqueta, although Sheth has revealed that the French side now want more than €60million.
The player’s representatives are in the UK as they attempt to agree personal terms with the Hammers. Paqueta has also been subject to interest from Arsenal and Manchester City.
He has scored 21 times in 80 appearances since joining Lyon from AC Milan in September 2020.
