Lyon president confirms Alexandre Lacazette transfer move after Arsenal's January disappointment

Alexander Lacazette's future at Arsenal seems increasingly more and more likely to end this summer following recent comments made by Lyon's representatives.

The 30-year-old forward joined the club back in 2017 and helped the side to claim the FA Cup in 2020.

But with just five months remaining on Lacazette's current Arsenal deal, rumours have again begun to circulate surrounding his future in north London.

With a potential return to Ligue 1 with former side Olympique Lyonnais looking a likely destination, club president Jean-Michel Aulas spoke out following the ongoing link - confirming a transfer move will be made in the summer.

“We’ll do our best to sign Alexandre Lacazette in June,'' began the Lyon representative.

"It's Lacazette, he interests us because he marked this club. It's a profile that interests us and we have always been in contact with him,'' added OL director Vincent Ponsot.

Netting just five goals this season, the Gunners had been rumoured to be in the market for a new forward, following Pierre-Emmerick Aubameyang's exit to Barcelona.

But with deals for both Alexander Isak and Dusan Vlahovic failing to come to any fruition, Mikel Arteta must now rely on other attacking talents to carry his side forward.

Folarin Balogun also departed the club this month, joining Championship side Middlesborough on loan until the end of this season.

Arsenal are bidding to return to the Champions League next season with a top-four finish, and will need all their attacking options to be firing on all cylinders heading into the second half of the 21/22 campaign.
