Lynsey Bennett enjoys night in with Una Healy before she travels to Germany for vital cancer treatment

Lynsey Bennett has said she is "forever grateful" for the support of her friends as she prepares to travel abroad for further cancer treatment.

The mother-of-two enjoyed a night at home full of "giggles and chats" with her two pals over the weekend, including singer Una Healy.

Sharing a snap of the trio on Instagram, Lynsey wrote: "@unahealy @claremc90 so good to have you gorgeous ladies over last night. Thank you for the giggles and chats.

"Forever grateful for the love of my friends, for turning up at my door on my darker days, and holding my hand on the days I need a little more support.

"Looking forward to seeing more of my wonderful friends before I go and here’s to making more memories with you all when I get home."

It comes as the Longford native prepares for a trip to Germany where she plans to undergo vital cancer treatment.

She hopes to book the trip to a clinic there soon, and even though she expects to go there a week later than intended she will grab the opportunity "with both hands".

Posting a selfie on Friday, she shared the latest on her health as she underwent a procedure in hospital.

Lynsey wrote: "I was quickly brought back to reality, my tumours haven’t started anywhere new which is amazing but my bowel one isn’t playing ball and in a matter of weeks has grown again. To add to mix I have had a bleed this evening too.

"Germany has never been so vital… I want to try more things to live.

"Germany fingers crossed is coming soon, but happening a week later than what I hoped but I’ll grab with both hands. I have one more meeting Monday for it then hopefully I can get booking a boat."

In another update on Monday, Lynsey, who was first diagnosed with cervical cancer five years ago, also urged women to go for their smears.

She said: "Today is the last day of January so I knew it was super important for me to remind everybody January is cervical cancer awareness month.

"How important it is to keep yourself checked and to keep note of all the little symptoms and things that you just feel aren’t right, and never feel that it’s not worth checking them out with a professional, it’s better to be checked out and be okay than to leave it and it too late."
