Lynn McPaul disappearance in Dundee - What we know so far

Police are searching for missing Dundee woman Lynn McPaul who vanished in the city centre two weeks ago.

Officers have widened their search from the location where she was last seen.

They have brought in specialist teams and also released information about what she wearing when she disappeared.

Here’s everything we know so far as concerns grow for the 45-year-old.

What happened?

Lynn McPaul is a 45-year-old woman who disappeared from Dundee City centre on Sunday January 23.

She was last seen at her home address on the Perth Road at about 11.40pm.

Her disappearance was described as 'out of character' by family members.

What does Lynn look like?

Lynn is described as white, about 4ft 11in and of slim build with shoulder-length, dark brown hair.

At the time she disappeared, she was wearing a black Nike jacket with the brand's logo on the front and rear.

Officers have released a photo of the coat in a bid to jog locals' memories of Sunday night.

Where was she last seen?

Lynn was last seen on the Perth Road.

Officers asked locals who live in the area of Strawberry Bank, Richmond Terrace and Magdalen Green close to her home to check CCTV, doorbell camera footage and dashcam video.

What have the police done?

Officers initially searched the area close to Lynn’s address.

They also brought in specialist search teams including a helicopter.

Search teams have been seen hunting through undergrowth in the city’s Balgay Park and Balgay Cemetery which are less than a mile from where she was last seen.

Officers have also issued photographs of the distinctive black Nike jacket Lynn was wearing when she vanished.

At this stage officers do not think Lynn went near the Tay although some areas between her house and the water have been checked.

Inspector Keith Anderson of Downfield Police Station is leading the search.

He said: “We are continuing with extensive searches and police enquiries in order to trace Lynn.

“It is completely out of character for her to be out of touch with her family for this length of time. We are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare the longer she remains missing.

What have Lynn’s family said?

Lynn’s family have yet to say anything about the 45-year-old’s disappearance and police have warned journalists not to approach them.
