Lyndon Dykes to be assessed amid Scotland injury scare

Lyndon Dykes has been sent for an assessment following an injury scare during Scotland training.

Pictures emerged on social media appearing to show the QPR striker being stretchered off the training pitch at Lesser Hampden. The photographs were taken by a member of the public looking down into the City Stadium.

Scotland are due to jet out to Faro before Monday's friendly match against Gibraltar.

And it's not yet known if Dykes will be part of Steve Clarke's travelling squad for that encounter.

The leg injury picked up in training comes just two weeks before Euro 2024 kicks off against Germany.

Dykes has scored nine goals across 36 internationals and has often been the focal point of Clarke’s attack.

The 28-year-old former Livingston forward played in all eight of the qualifiers, starting five of them, and scoring once.

Meanwhile, Joe Savage is to leave his position at Heart of Midlothian this summer.

The club's sporting director will resign after three-and-a-half years at Tynecastle. The 39-year-old recently made his intentions to step down clear with his fellow Gorgie chiefs.

Savage is not believed to have a no new job lined up. He had been linked with Stoke City before they appointed Jonathan Walters and was reportedly attracting some attention from Premier League clubs earlier this year, it's believed Savage has no new job lined up.

Savage, who had a playing career that included spells at Montrose, East Stirlingshire and Arbroath, joined the club towards the end of 2020 after scouting and recruitment roles Hamilton, Norwich and Preston.

Earlier this season he came under criticism from fans but has overseen three top four finishes in the Premiership following promotion from the Championship.

The club have also reached the Scottish Cup final and will play in European group stage competition for the second time.
