A Lyft driver in Texas was the victim of a brutal attack while giving a ride, resulting in serious injuries and the theft of his car. Dilaver Berk, a 25-year-old Lyft driver, was attacked by a passenger who slashed his throat, attempted to choke him, and stole his vehicle. Although Berk has been released from the hospital, he remains bedridden and is grateful to be alive.
The incident occurred when Berk picked up a 19-year-old passenger, Antwain Williams, for a ride in Frisco, Texas. Upon reaching the destination, Williams attacked Berk from behind with a knife and a cable or wire, causing deep gashes to Berk's hands and stitches across his neck.
Williams was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and evading arrest. He also had an outstanding warrant for another offense. After stealing Berk's Toyota Camry, Williams attempted to evade police but was eventually arrested after crashing the vehicle.
Berk, who moved from Turkey to Texas last year, is known for his hard work and dedication. He sends money to his parents back home and is described as a diligent individual by his friend, Dustin Tovi.
The community has been shocked by the violent attack on Berk, with Tovi expressing sadness over the incident. Williams remains in custody at the Denton County Jail as the investigation continues.
