Luxury flat for sale in block where Steven Gerrard used to live

A new flat has come on the market in Merseyside and a Liverpool FC star used to live there.

The two bedroom flat, in Southport, is listed for sale for offers more than £300,000. The split-level apartment is based on the third floor of the ‘desirable’ complex that has once housed footballing legend Steven Gerrard.

Marine Gate Mansions is based in a former hospital building, on the Promenade, overlooking Marine Lake and Southport beach. The complex has its own landscaped courtyard and grass gardens.

Liverpool FC legend, Steven Gerrard previously lived in the luxury flat complex early in his career before he moved to a family home in Formby. He reportedly lived in the property while he worked on his business partnership with Southport hotelier Paul Adams, who runs the Vincent Hotel on Lord Street.

In a past Sunday Mirror column, former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler revealed that Gerrard once pretended to be a cat to avoid being spotted on the roof of his Southport flat. Fowler didn’t explain what the two were doing on Gerrard's roof, but said that the midfielder used the unusual tactic to stop anyone realising who they were.

Fowler wrote: "He's got an incredible dry wit and that is something that's a big part of him. Don't ask why, but there we were, two instantly recognisable footballers clambering about on a roof outside his flat in Southport, when we got rumbled. We both ducked down instantly and quick as a flash, he started making this miaowing noise. Gerrard, the cat. It still kills me to this day."
