Life often gets busy and sometimes, all you need is a nice staycation to relax and unwind.
Staycations are all the rage at the moment. The idea of staying in the UK and avoiding long plane journeys is becoming increasingly popular for Brits, and it's very easy to see why. With an abundance of beautiful B&Bs and hotels available right on our doorstep, it's no wonder staycations are on the rise.
Combermere Abbey is described as a 'luxury staycation destination' in the heart of the countryside, nestled on the Cheshire and Shropshire border. The 12th century estate is home to 10 self-catering countryside cottages, and two B&B suites within the North Wing.

The holiday cottages are dog-friendly, so the Abbey is ideal for a full family holiday with plenty of open green space for your pets to play. The North Wing B&B suites are perfect for romantic getaways, with 'The Salamanca' room boasting impressive views over the Mere.
If you'd prefer self-catering, the cottages sleep between 4-10 people, they're all dog-friendly and each pet gets treated to their very own ‘pooch pack’ on arrival.
Nine of the cottages reside within the cottage courtyard, with the other standing alone at the entrance to the estate. This is called the Stone Lodge cottage and is perfect for a quiet retreat.
Each cottage gets its own garden, ideal for private picnics and BBQs in the summer, or guests can treat themselves to a picnic by the Mere. Visitors don’t even need leave the estate if they don't want to, as there's plenty of activities close by to keep occupied including woodland walks and bike rides around the estate.
For those who fancy exploring beyond the estate, close by are the market towns of Whitchurch and Nantwich, and Chester Zoo is just 45 minutes away. There are also plenty of dog-friendly walks in the local area, plenty of local country pubs selling Cheshire made gin and ales, and Cheshire Oaks for shopping.
