Luss boxer Hannah Rankin retains WBA and IBO world titles - but offers prayers to hospitalised opponent

Hannah Rankin retained her IBO and WBA super welterweight titles with a dominant victory against Alejandra Ayala at a packed Hydro on Friday night.

However, the Luss-born fighter said her immediate thoughts were with her opponent, who was taken to hospital after the bout – where she is said to be in a “stable” condition, after twice undergoing surgery.

A statement from promoters Fight Academy said: “The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Dennis Hobson Promotions, Fight Academy and Fightzone are with Alejandra Ayala.
