Lush announces huge changes to be implemented once restrictions are fully lifted

Lush has confirmed it will be bucking expectations once covid restrictions are completely lifted by maintaining a number of pandemic practises.

The coronavirus pandemic has had a major impact on our way of life, with government imposed restrictions first introduced back in March 2020 continuing for over a year. Since then, rules and regulations have changed depending on available data at the time.

It's no secret that industries including hospitality and retail were seriously affected by the pandemic and, in some cases, it led to the permanent closure of independent shops, businesses, restaurants and more.

High street favourite Lush, which has its beloved flagship store on Liverpool's Church Street, implemented a number of rules to help protect staff and customers from the deadly virus.

Now, with news of all remaining covid restrictions to be dropped in England, Lush has announced it will continue to pay staff who test positive to self isolate, and it will also continue with considerations and initiatives introduced to keep its staff and shoppers safe.

These include encouraging staff to take regular lateral flow tests, encouraging 10 days of isolation and more.

When the virus reached the UK two years ago, Lush announced it would be offering high street shoppers their own piece of soap to wash their hands on arrival at their local Lush shop at a time when many public hand washing facilities were closed.

This was also to promote hand-washing guidelines as advised by the NHS in the UK and other public health organisations around the world at the time.

Kat Hannible, Lush retail director UK and Ireland, said: "Our soaps really are the best on the market, featuring a unique palm-free base, topped up with essential oils and fresh ingredients to benefit both your skin, and your mind.

"Using a Lush soap is a luxurious way to carry out the very necessary business of basic protective hygiene."

Lush's response to restrictions being lifted

The following protections will be in place for Lush UK and Ireland customer-facing roles:

  • Lush are encouraging staff to use regular lateral flow tests while these are still available (until 1st April 2022).
  • Lush are encouraging their retail staff who test positive to self isolate for 10 days, unless they have negative tests for two consecutive days from days 5 and 6 of isolation. They are continuing to support retail employees financially to self isolate for the foreseeable future.
  • Lush will continue to maintain as safe a working environment as possible by encouraging staff to continue wearing face coverings, clean surfaces regularly, and wash their hands frequently.
