Lunch has been branded the nation’s least favourite mealtime, according to new research commissioned by UK rice brand Tilda. The survey, conducted in conjunction with OnePoll, explored the lunch habits of 2,000 people from across the UK and discovered that almost a third of Brits are “bored” of their lunch and eat the same dish four days a week.
Despite being considered the most boring lunch options, 63% of Brits turn to salads, sandwiches or soups for their midday meal, as they typically describe their lunch routine as easy, basic and repetitive. Anna Beheshti, Head of Marketing at Tilda, said: “Our research revealed that people are looking for tastier (40%), healthier (36%) and more flavoursome (33%) lunches, but convenience and time present a barrier to this, with most people currently spending an average of just 15 minutes preparing and eating their lunch.
“Lunch doesn’t have to be mundane, just because it's often eaten speedily and alone. With a little bit of inspiration, and by incorporating a few small and easy cooking hacks as well as more exciting flavours into your lunchtime routine, you can create a quick and affordable lunch that ticks all of these boxes.”
