Boss Luke Williams says Notts County are "narrowing down our options" for potential transfers ahead of their National League opener against Maidenhead United this weekend.
The Magpies have brought in six new players at Meadow Lane so far this summer, with Aden Baldwin, Tobi Adebayo-Rowling, Cedwyn Scott, Geraldo Bajrami, Macauley Langstaff and Sam Austin all penning deals at the club in William's first season in charge.
And whilst the loss to star players Kyle Wootton and Cal Roberts have been a significant blow, Williams explained that the Magpies are still in the market to bolster their squad, and are close to finalising potential deals.
Luke Williams identifies key Notts County advantage ahead of National League opener
"We are looking very closely at a few players, probably across all of those positions on the pitch", said Williams.
"We are certainly narrowing down our options to the players who we really think are the best ones that we can try and achieve something with.
"Time scale is unfortunately something I am unable to give of when we might see potential players arriving. Of course, with the situation within the National League, there is no window so of course we are going to be looking the whole time, but certainly we are narrowing down our priorities."
Following an undefeated pre-season campaign, the Magpies go into the game against Maidenhead with a lot of confidence, further backed up by their results last season, beating Alan Devonshire's side 1-0 and 0-1 respectively.
But the Notts boss was quick to dismiss another comfortable day at the office for his players, insisting his players will have to be on top form if they are to kick-start their fourth season in the National League with a win.
"They are going to be a powerful group of players from what I can see. They will not hesitate to test us at the back and get the ball forward quickly.
They are going to have a really good mentality and the players will go and support the play, I have no doubt about that. There is a couple of guys that are very useful for them from set-pieces, and we have to contain the threats and try to go and put our stamp on the game and create chances ourselves.
"I am sure they are going to be well prepared and will have a game plan for us."
Of their last six opening day games, the Magpies have just won one of those six, with their last win on the opening day coming last season in a thumping 5-0 victory away to Barnet.
And Williams was quick to emphasise the importance of starting the season with a win, especially in front of the home fans in Meadow Lane.
"That would be the ideal start", said Williams.
"Over the course of the season it is not going to be the be all or end all, but we certainly are wanting to get off on the right foot and we are very much wanting to win in front of our fans at home and that without question, is the aim."
