Luke Shaw has recently regained his place in the starting XI at Manchester United, but could be out of the door in January with BBC pundit Noel Whelan backing the left-back for a move to the North East.
The 27-year-old has played 90 minutes in United's last two fixtures and looks to have taken his spot in the United side back from Tyrell Malacia after the summer signing had claimed his place in Erik ten Hag's defence. However, with the Magpies now backed by the mega-rich Saudi private investment fund, the England left-back could be tempted by a switch.
Shaw is in the final 18 months of his contract at United and with a career which has been stop-start at Old Trafford, he could well be tempted to make a switch. Newcastle currently have Matt Targett and Dan Burn in their ranks as left-back with the latter struggling in an unnatural role at Old Trafford on Sunday.

This has led former Leeds striker to tell Shaw that a move to Newcastle would work for him. Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan said: "It's one of the positions that Erik ten Hag is pondering over. He’s thinking about possibly signing another full-back, he doesn’t know who the best option is.
“I think with the way they did it with Trippier, bringing in that experience and quality – they’ll be happy to repeat that success. It’s down to the manager as well.
"I think if you get him playing under Eddie Howe, he’d become a better player. It’d be exciting, it makes sense – and having that kind of experience is invaluable for a club like Newcastle.”
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Sport Witness relayed an update from Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that United were leading the queue for Lautaro Martinez, with the Inter man potentially the man to replace Cristiano Ronaldo in the long-term at Old Trafford.
The reports claim that United have an 'open channel' to the star who has scored 126 career goals at the age of just 25. He will lead the line for Argentina this summer and has been a prolific star for club and country for a number of years now.
While there may be a slim chance of securing the player's signature before United return to the Champions League in the future, the rumours are promising as United hope to compete for world-class players to build their squad for the future.
