Luke Shaw sets next Manchester United target after Carabao Cup triumph

Luke Shaw has his eyes set on more trophy triumphs this season and has revealed the Manchester United players have already turned their attention to ensuring they advance to the next round of the FA Cup on Wednesday.

United's six-year wait for a trophy finally came to an end on Sunday after they defeated Newcastle United 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final. Two first-half goals got the job done after Casemiro headed in the opener and Marcus Rashford grabbed the second with help from a wicked deflection off Sven Botman.

Erik ten Hag's side were the only team in Europe still competing in four competitions before the final and there are still three more pieces of silverware up for grabs this season. Another is the FA Cup, in which United face West Ham in the fifth round this week.

It's another competition United want to win and Shaw believes United now have the taste for it. ''Whenever you come to Man United the aim is always to be winning trophies,'' he told United's in-house media.

''I think we are in that moment now where we have got the taste of one and after a long while we want more. 'We are still in three competitions and we want to look to do our best and hopefully add many more trophies to this collection.

''If you look at the start of the season, how we started, nobody would have thought we would have won our first trophy six or seven months later.

''It's a credit to him [Ten Hag] the way he has transformed the team and he has brought that winning spirit back. We as players really believe in him and we are really enjoying playing under him. Hopefully this is just the start of something special."

Sunday's final was extra special for Shaw as it's the first successful final he's been able to play a part in since he joined the club. He continued: ''For me personally, it was a really special day.

''We have won trophies before but for different circumstances, I wasn't able to play. To play in one and win it was a really nice feeling. I think yesterday after the game we celebrated as a team there and in the dressing room, we enjoyed the moment.

''It's back to reality now and we have a massive game on Wednesday in another competition that we want to win. We are back in training today and are getting back to that.''
