West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski says he is “honoured and proud” after signing a one-year contract extension with the club.
The 37-year-old joined the Hammers from Arsenal in the summer of 2018 and has become an integral member of David Moyes’ squad making a total of 138 appearances since his arrival, with 38 of those coming last season.
Fabianski’s new deal has the option of being extended by a further 12 months should both club and player agree to it next year, with the Polish international telling the club’s website he was delighted to put pen to paper on new terms at the London Stadium.

“I’m obviously pleased and very happy that I can stay for one more year, so I’m excited about it, for sure,” said Fabianski. “The way the club has developed and started to reach its potential, it’s been really nice to be part of it. I can see how much attention this club draws when it comes to interacting with the fans or the way it’s being presented in the media.
“I think there's a lot of interest into the club, so it feels like this club is one of the bigger ones in the country, so I'm just honoured and proud to be part of this club for a few years now.”
The Hammers finished seventh in the Premier League last season and reached the semi-finals of the Europa League where they lost to eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt over two legs. Owing to their league finish, the club will be back in European competition next season as they play in the UEFA Europa Conference League for the first time.
To deal with the amount of football they’ll be playing, Moyes has been busy adding to his squad to give them the best possible chances of competing on all fronts both domestic and abroad. The club completed a move for highly-rated centre-back Nayef Aguerd from Rennes last month and followed that by signing keeper Alphonse Areola to a permanent deal from PSG after a successful loan spell.
“If you want to develop as a team and as a club, I think consistency is the main thing,” added Fabianski. “You always want to take your time to make the right, correct decisions, and I think that is always what helps you to perform well out there on the on the pitch. And I think, with the way the club has been run in the past few years, I think that’s what helped us to be where we are at this present time.
“It obviously all starts with us performing well out there on the on the pitch and being able to play in Europe this season as well really helps, so obviously we’ll be very happy to play in front of more people. So hopefully this tendency will continue to improve not only when it comes to the capacity of the stadium, but for all the fans around the world as well.”
