Most NBA fans are keenly aware that Mavericks point guard Luka Dončić is a gifted scorer.
He’s ranked among the top three players in the league in points per game in each of the past two seasons, and he ranks third this season at 30.5.
But the four-time All-Star is also a tremendous passer, evidenced by his career mark of 8.0 assists per game. Dončić got fancy and flashed those facilitating skills Wednesday night and humbled the league’s all-time leading scorer in the process.
To wit, Dončić whipped a cross-court pass through the legs of Lakers superstar LeBron James on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. Mavs guard Josh Green then sunk a three-pointer from the right corner to reward Dončić with the assist.

The Mavericks went on to beat the Lakers, 104–101, behind a game-high 30 points from Dončić and 28 from Kyrie Irving. James scored 26 to lead the Lakers.
