Inter Miami head coach Gerardo 'Tata' Martino has revealed that star forward Luis Suárez is battling an ongoing knee issue that requires constant management. Suárez, who missed the MLS All-Star match due to his inflamed knee, made a last-minute appearance in Inter Miami's Leagues Cup opener against Puebla, playing 85 minutes in a 2-0 victory.
Martino acknowledged the challenges Suárez faces, stating, 'This situation where your knee can become inflamed is not something that has only just occurred. It is a knee that he works on permanently, week by week. There are days that are better, there are weeks that are not.'
Despite Suárez's knee problems, he has been a key contributor to Inter Miami's success, tallying 12 goals and five assists in the MLS regular season. The Uruguayan striker also scored in his Leagues Cup debut against Puebla, aiding the team in their quest to defend their title.
Suárez has previously disclosed his struggles with osteoarthritis in his right knee, contemplating retirement at one point. He emphasized the importance of rest and family time in his decision-making process for the future.
