Feyenoord are expected to receive a record fee for winger Luis Sinisterra from Leeds United, according to Dutch publication De Telegraaf. Sinisterra is expected to cost in the region of €20 to €30 million, and although Feyenoord are unwilling to comment on talks, Leeds are working on a deal to bring the wide man to Elland Road.
Everton are also interested in the Colombian international although Leeds appear to be his likeliest destination. The 23-year-old was discovered by Feyenoord scout Steven Aptroot when plying his trade in his native Colombia for Once Caldas.
The Rotterdam side signed Sinisterra for a reported fee of €2 million in 2018 although he was limited to just seven appearances in his debut season. Sinisterra completed his rehabilitation with the under-21s and scored six goals in seven appearances in 2018-19. He established himself as a regular during the following two seasons – contributing 12 goals and 15 assists in 57 matches across all competitions.
But it was last season that Sinisterra became one of the most dangerous wingers in the Netherlands. He registered 12 goals and seven assists in the Dutch top-flight and a further 11 goals as Feyenoord reached the UEFA Europa Conference League final, which they lost against AS Roma in May.
The winger, who also has five caps for Colombia under his belt, was named UEFA Europa Conference League Young Player of the Season and was also included in the competition’s team of the season.
Sinisterra is renowned for his creative qualities and also his ability to dribble past opponents. His goal record also speaks for itself, and if he acclimatises to the Premier League, then he could be a shrewd replacement for Raphinha, with the Brazilian’s exit edging closer.
