Luis Diaz returns as double boost spotted in Liverpool training session

Liverpool's break from the training pitch has finally ended as the club's players not involved in the World Cup took part in a training session in Dubai on Tuesday.

The Reds are in the Middle East for warm weather sessions, but will also compete in the Dubai Super Cup where they will face Franch side Lyon and Italian giants AC Milan over the next 10 days.

Jurgen Klopp will be using the time away to effectively put his available squad through a second pre-season as the Reds look to put an under-par start to the Premier League season behind them once the World Cup draws to a close.

Here's three three things we spotted in training...

Diaz back in the swing of it

Liverpool supporters will be thrilled to see Colombian forward Luis Diaz back on the training pitch.

The 25-year-old has not kicked a ball for the Reds since the 3-2 defeat at Arsenal on October 9, but he was all smiles today as he steps up his rehabilitation from knee injury in expectation of a return to action before the end of month.

How Liverpool need him back.

Keita also involved

If there's one area the Reds have been short this season then it's in midfield so the sight of Naby Keita being put through his paces with his teammates today should be one of massive encouragement.

Keita's only involvement this season was off the bench for little over five minutes against Manchester City in the Community Shield, but despite coming to the end his contract, the Guinea international could have an important role to play in the second half of the season, providing he can stay fit.

Youngsters make the journey

While some of Liverpool's best-known names like Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk fight it out for the World Cup in Qatar, that leaves some room in the squad for some younger players to make a name for themselves. Bobby Clark, Stefan Bajcetic, Luke Chambers and Jake Cain were all pictured enjoying the session. The young quartet will be looking to soak up as much knowledge from their senior peers as possible on the trip and try to impress boss Klopp in the process.

With Liverpool having three matches to squeeze in between December 22 and the end of the year, an opportunity for fringe players or young upstarts could be in the offering as the German looks to get the most out of his squad.

Liverpool will get their first real match action underway on Sunday, December 11, when they face Lyon at the Al-Maktoum Stadium.
