Lucy Fallon shares unseen picture from hospital after giving birth to son as she shows his face for first time

Lucy Fallon looked full of emotion as she shared a previously unseen picture from after she gave birth to her son. The former Coronation Street star has officially introduced her first child, Sonny Jude, to the world weeks after his arrival.

Actress Lucy and her footballer boyfriend Ryan Ledson announced earlier this month that their baby boy had safely made an appearance into the world on January 30.

Sharing the news, Lucy, who played Bethany Platt in Corrie from 2015 to 2022, posted a sweet black and white image of herself and Ryan as she cradled their precious bundle of joy. "Our beautiful boy," she captioned the photo alongside his birthdate.

And after a few weeks of enjoying their newborn bubble, Lucy, 27, and Ryan, 25, have officially confirmed the name of their bundle of joy as well as shared details of his birth and the first pictures of their first child.

Sharing an adorable picture of her holding onto her baby boy, who was swaddled in a white blanket with a matching bobble hat, outside in the winter sun, Lucy said on Instagram: "A month of our Sonny Jude Ledson [crying emojis] It’s been so gorgeous being in our little baby bubble for the last 4 weeks but he’s too scrumptious not to share.

"So here he is. We don’t sleep as much as we used to, but we smile a whole lot more." And her former COrrie co-stars were quick to flood the comments sections with hearts and love heart eyes emojis as Ellie Leach, who plays Faye Windass, said: "angel boy," and Catherine Tyldesley, who starred as Eve Price in the ITV soap, added: "Omg he’s adorable!!!"

And Lucy also took to her Instagram Story as she shared a photo of herself in her hospital bed snuggling up to her newborn son. The actress looked overwhelmed with joy and exhaustion following the labour as she looked up to the camera.

She was still sporting a hospital gown and had various cannulas in her hand and arm as she cradled Sonny. The little one was wrapped up in a white towel shortly after his birth and could be seen wearing a little knitted hat.

Blackpool native Lucy posted the snap with crying emojis before sharing a photo of Preston North End footballer Ryan doting on his son who had his little eyes open as he rested on his dad's lap.

Speaking exclusively to OK! Magazine, Lucy shared how she had an 'assisted birth'. In week 38 of her pregnancy, scans showed that Sonny’s growth had started to slow down and he had reduced movement, so Lucy’s doctors advised she should be induced. On January 29, she arrived at the hospital at 9am for her induction.

"I was having tiny contractions during the day,” she said. "Ryan wasn’t allowed to stay after 9pm. At midnight, my waters broke, and then my contractions started getting quite painful. Ryan came back to the hospital at 5.30am. By then, I was 3cm dilated and was moved to the delivery suite. I was on gas and air for ages but that didn’t work, I was being sick – it was horrible. I was making a lot of noise."

By 4pm, Lucy, 28, had started pushing, which went on for an hour and a half, but, between contractions, her baby's head was going back in and she was given three options – ventouse (vacuum cup), forceps or Caesarean. Due to Sonny’s position having to be be manipulated for a C-section, Lucy didn’t want him put under any unnecessary stress and knew she didn’t want a forceps delivery, so she opted for the ventouse.

"Having the ventouse is classed as an assisted birth, so we headed into surgery around 6pm, and he was born at 6.34pm, weighing 7lb 4oz. He had a bit of a cone head for a few days, but he’s fine now," the new mum said.
