Lucy Fallon shares candid snap and details struggle as a new mum after opening up about birth

Lucy Fallon has shared an honest post about the struggle she faced becoming a new mum. The former Coronation Street actress took to Instagram with a candid snap to mark Maternal Mental Health Week.

Lucy and her footballer boyfriend Ryan Ledson announced earlier in February that their baby boy had safely been born on January 30. The actress, who played Bethany Platt in the ITV soap from 2015 to 2022, then officially introduced her first child, Sonny Jude, to the world at the end of February weeks after his arrival.

And taking to Instagram last week, 28-year-old Lucy appeared to suggest she had found the motherhood groove as she posed for a selfie.

Lucy looked fresh-faced as she posed for the camera in a white t-shirt as she accessorised with some silver jewellery and pulled her blond locks back into an updo.

"Starting to feel more like moi again," Lucy typed alongside the gorgeous image. "If ur in the thick of newborn chaos - it gets so much easier," she then added to her fellow new mums. And fans were quick to praise her for her message of support as well as show her some love in return.

Now, in a fresh Instagram Story post, Lucy, who is starring in new ITVX period drama Tom Jones, posted an image that showed her sleeping having nodded off while tending to her baby son. "Maternal mental health week," she prefaced the post. "There is nothing in the world that can prepare you," she went on to share.

"From giving birth, the aftermath and then having this teeny tiny ll human bean to take care of." Commenting on what she's found hard, Lucy typed: "The thing I've struggled with the most is the anxiety that comes with being a mum. I question everything I do every single day and I am honestly winging the life out of it."

The former soap star, who hails form Blackpool, then concluded her post: "But we're here and we're having a gorgeous time. Sending love and positive vibes. We all got this."

It comes after Lucy opened up about Sonny's birth during an appearance on Loose Women. After previously sharing that much of the experience was ‘horrible’, and she was being sick the actress told the ITV lunchtime show's panel that things could have been worse.

Asked how her son is, she said:" He’s really good, he is. We don’t get as much sleep as we used to do, obviously. But he is actually really good." She was then asked how she is feeling after the emotional birth, which saw her induced after 38 weeks when the baby's growth started to slow down.

Lucy said she was on gas and air "for ages" and added she made "a lot of noise." Denise Welch asked her how she was doing to which she said: "I am actually fine, I am genuinely. Obviously, it’s a massive life change, it’s huge!"

"Looking back, it could’ve been a lot worse," she reflected. "I’d made a full birth playlist that I wanted to be played but that went out of the window!"
