Lucy Bronze revealed she and the Lionesses partied until 4am - and then got up and went all over again.
England's victorious women celebrated their Euros success back at the team hotel at the Lensbury Hotel in West London after one of the greatest days in English football history. The booze was flowing, they even persuaded Sarina Wiegman to have a beer, they danced and sang - and then even tried to persuade their manager to have a beer for breakfast!
The England players failed with that but did take to the stage again in front of 7,000 spectators at Trafalgar Square in a celebration for the Lionesses after their Euros victory at Wembley.
Bronze, talking from behind a pair of sunglasses after the party at Trafalgar Square, said: “I think Sarina was finding it hard to keep up with the English ways! She had a few comments this morning! I tried to give her a beer before she started the meeting, and she was like: ‘Please don’t, Lucy’.
“We have been winding her up, but it’s something she’ll have to get used to now she’s an honorary English women. She’ll have to get practicing [drinking beer]. Hopefully we can have more nights like that. So she’s going to need it! I was going to say tired but I feel better after that. I think most of us only got a couple hours sleep. Hence the sunglasses. I feel like I’m on top of the world.
“Crazy, dancing, cake, drinks, dancing again. The last message I sent on my phone was at four o’clock in the morning. It didn’t make much sense. And then we all had to get up at half past eight to have a meeting and then come here. But not quite finished yet, but finally we’ll get to unwind by the end of today it will all be done. It hasn’t sunk in, we were all saying that it still doesn’t feel quite normal. When we get home on the sofa, having a glass of orange juice or cup of tea, you’ll be sat there and that will be the moment where you think it’s insane, we’re champions of Europe.”

The celebration at Trafalgar Square was awash with flags, England shirts and banners on a day of glorious celebration. They had to shut the gates 90 minutes before heroic Wiegman and her players even took to the stage. There was space for 7,000 fans on a first come first served basis and it felt like they could have filled the famous London landmark ten times over. The feel good factor from Wembley just carried over into Trafalgar Square as it was such a wonderful, friendly buzz around the place.
Kids on patents’ shoulders, they cheered Wiegman and her heroic Lionesses onto the stage and when they played “It’s Coming Home” it really felt like it had. White shirts, orange shirts and flags of St George. The music blaring out. What a party. This was another breath of fresh air as men, women and kids of all ages just cheered and got into the party spirit. Leah Williamson said: “This team likes to work hard - but we like to party hard! And that’s all I was thinking about at the final whistle.”
Bronze admits the competition for places for next year’s World Cup will be fiercer than ever but also says she would love to see England host the tournament in 2027. And the 30-year-old insists she wants to play in it. Bronze added: “What’s that, in five year’s time? I’ll be 35 so yeah I could still play, I could do that. Jill’s here, if she’s doing it I can. I think that would be the only, literally the only thing that could top this tournament would be a home world cup and chance to do all this again but on an even bigger stage. That would be incredible. So fingers crossed. Any World Cup final would do for us I think.”
