LUCKNOW: A selfie addict landed in jail in Lucknow on Tuesday after he stole a mobile phone on March 25 from a security room at deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya’s residence and kept using it for hours. The accused confessed that he used the stolen cellphone to take selfies with MLAs and ministers when he visited their residences to congratulate them.
The accused, Lavkush Gautam (25) of Barabanki, was arrested by Gautampalli police.
Gautam first entered deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya’s residence and during security check he kept his phone in the security room. While coming out, he picked up his mobile along with another, formatted it and left.
Gautam told police that he met several ministers and MLAs, including a cabinet minister, and took selfies using the stolen phone.
The man whose mobile was stolen reported the theft to policet. Police got the footage of the accused from the security room. “We identified the accused and arrested him from Gautampalli area,” police said.
SHO Gautampalli, Sukhveer Singh Bhadouria said the accused said that he saw a good quality phone in security room and stole it.
