Lucknow: Key files gutted at Hussainganj police station

LUCKNOW: A short-circuit in the air conditioner vent triggered a massive fire inside Hussainganj police station on Friday. Important documents, computers, and court papers were gutted.

There was no casualty but seized vehicles were charred. Lucknow police commissioner has directed DCP Central Zone to probe the incident.

ACP, Hazratganj, Akhilesh Singh said that around 4pm head constable Sanjay Kumar saw smoke coming from the window of the room.

Within minutes there was a blast in the AC vent. The police personnel complained of nausea and vomiting in the aftermath of the fire.

The electricity was snapped and with the help of fire extinguishers the major fire was doused. The fire department doused all the inflammable materials. Chief Fire Officer, Lucknow, Vijay Kumar Singh said probe is underway to find the cause of fire. SHO, Hussainganj, Devendra Vikram Singh, said some important documents got destroyed but the hard disk was saved.
