Lucknow: Fire breaks out in Gandhi ward of King George's Medical University, no harm reported

LUCKNOW: A small fire broke out in the Gandhi ward of King George's Medical University (KGMU) Lucknow on Monday afternoon.

As per the officials, a monitor in the intensive care unit of Gandhi ward caught fire due to short circuit because of sudden power surge.

As a result, smoke with low flame started to come out of the monitor. Seeing it, staff members immediately doused the fire using extinguishers. Simultaneously, 13 patients who were admitted to ICU were shifted to an adjacent room which also had an intensive care facility.

No harm has been reported other than a monitor of ICU system. "As a precautionary orders have been issued to check all wiring of the room before starting the facility again," said medical superintendent KGMU Prof D Himanshu.
